The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Bangladesh squad for the one-day series against Afghanistan. Ibadat Hossain, Nasum Ahmed and Mahmudul Hasan are in the ODI team for the first time.
All the matches of the three-match ODI series will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The first ODI is on February 23.
Six cricketers - Mohammad Mithun, Mohammad Naeem, Mosaddek Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Rubel Hossain and Taizul Islam - have been dropped from the squad for the latest ODI series against Zimbabwe last year. Mohammad Saifuddin is out of the squad due to injury.
Apart from Mahmudul, Yasir, Nasum and Ibadat, Nazmul Hossain has also joined the team in the Afghanistan series this time. Today, the BCB has announced a 15-man squad with Tamim Iqbal as the captain for the three-match series. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who was dropped early in the BPL due to injury, has been included in the squad.
Bangladesh played its last ODI series in Zimbabwe in July last year. Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the country without playing ODIs due to Seba's family. He is in the squad for the series against Afghanistan.
Mushfiqur and 18 others were in the series against Zimbabwe. This time the team has been formed with 15 people.
The series against Afghanistan will start on February 23. The next two matches will be on February 25 and 26. All the matches will be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The series is part of the World Cup Super League.
After the ODI series, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will also play a two-match T20 series, which will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
