Afghanistan team announced for Bangladesh tour

 The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh with Hashmatullah Shahidi as the captain.

Usman Gani has been dropped from Afghanistan's squad for the latest ODI series against the Netherlands. Experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and batsman Ibrahim Zadran have returned to the 16-member squad. Kayes Ahmed and Selim Safi have been placed on the standby list for the ODI team.

There has been a big change in Afghanistan's T20 squad. The Afghans have played the last International Twenty20 in the last World Cup. Asghar Afghan is not in the team due to retirement. Excluded are Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Shehzad, Hashmatullah, Hamid Hasan and Naveen-ul-Haq.

Darwish Rasuli, Azmatullah Omarzai, Afsar Jazai, Kayes Ahmed and Nizat Masood have been called. Mohammad Nabi will lead the Afghanistan T20 team.

Mirwaish Ashraf, chairman of the Afghan Cricket Board, said in a press release, "The selectors have selected a number of new cricketers for the ODI team. This is a good sign for our team. We are moving forward with the World Cup in mind. These three ODIs are important for us. I'm sure the team has enough potential to do well. '

The Afghan team arrived in Bangladesh on 12 February. After a one-day quarantine, the visitors started a training camp at the Sylhet International Stadium today. The Afghan team will travel from Sylhet to Chittagong, the venue of the ODI series. The first match will be played on February 23 and the next two matches will be played on February 25 and 26. The two T20s of the tour will be in Mirpur. The first match is on March 3 and the last is on March 5.
